Holly, Lena, and Chloe went to Camp Fiddlecreek today to learn all about managing money! Holly and Lena were able to earn their "Making Choices" leaf, and Chloe earned her "Money Manager" badge. (This camp was for Daisies and Brownies, so it worked out well for us to go together.) We missed our Daisy friends who weren't able to come. We hope that next time you can join us at daycamp! It was so much fun!
Here we are in the Dining Hall, getting ready to start! All of the girls got a bag to put their craft projects in!
There were six stations that we rotated through during the course of the day. At this station, we made coin purses, and played a penny toss! This was good practice for coin identification!
At the next station, we made a snack! Graham crackers are shaped like dollars, and vanilla wafers are shaped like coins. We got to frost them any color we chose. Yum!
We also made dollar "SWAPS." SWAPS are Simple Whatchamacallit Affectionately Pinned Somewhere. Girl Scouts like to make and trade SWAPS!
Here we are, talking about saving money and making a bank!
At this shopping station, the girls explored how to spend money wisely. They cut out pictures of healthy foods to buy at the grocery store. Then they were able to shop for school supplies! They had a budget to use when shopping, and after they bought all of the supplies they needed, they were able to spend extra money on things they wanted to buy! The big surprise was that the girls got to keep all of the things that they bought at the store!
We liked the spiral stairs!
At our last station, we talked about how it's important to do three things with money: spend, save, and share. We got play money to divide up into the three jars. The girls decorated their three jars, and got to take them home! This way they can practice putting money in the spend, save, and share jars!
We liked Camp Fiddlecreek, and we hope that we get to visit again another day!
